Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM or 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM with rotating weekendsOverview:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Microbiology Technologist to join our team in Richmond, VA. As a Microbiology Technologist, you will play a crucial role in our laboratory operations, performing a variety of microbiological tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. This position requires strong microbiology experience, including plate reading, and candidates must have at least an Associate's degree, preferably in microbiology.Responsibilities:
- Perform microbiological tests including bacterial cultures, sensitivity testing, and identification of microorganisms.
- Conduct plate reading and interpret results accurately.
- Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing routine maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Document test results accurately and enter them into the laboratory information system.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other laboratory staff to provide timely and accurate test results.
- Associate's degree or higher, preferably in microbiology.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Microbiology Technologist.
- ASCP or AMT certification required.
- Registration as a Medical Technologist or Microbiologist.
- Strong experience in plate reading.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
