Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.Our goal is to conduct first round virtual interviews the week of June 12th & 13th, 2024, second round in person interviews the week of June 19th & 20th 2024, and virtual final interviews the following week.Expected Start date: August 12, 2024.This position is responsible for instruction of Graphic Design and Web and Digital Media Design courses at the college level. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional skills in concepting, layout, design, color, typography, project management as proven by their provided portfolio. Expert knowledge of Adobe Create Cloud applications required. Professional use of Figma, User Experience, User Interface Design, and web production, including HTML and CSS strongly encouraged.This position will teach a mix of courses each semester, including, but not limited to: Introduction to Design Software, Concept Development, Web Design, Design Fundamentals.This position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and Applied Arts.Faculty in the Graphic Design Program are expected to teach in a variety of formats (training provided as needed for non-traditional formats) which could include evenings.Essential Duties:-Facilitate student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to fit students’ needs and support student engagement. Continually revise curriculum to improve student learning.-Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback in courses taught by the instructor.-Contribute to student success and retention by advising students with course selection, career concerns, internships, and other matters.-Serve as an advocate for students and engages in activities that help students achieve their goals such as writing letters of recommendations, and/or helping students link with internships, service learning, job shadowing and other forms of networking.-Provide support to the program, the school, and the college by attending and engaging in events and meetings and participating fully within the team environment.-Continually improve teaching through professional development activities and the integration of new techniques and technology. This includes the development and implementation of individualized professional development plan.-Maintain a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:​-Skilled in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.-Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.-Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge/experience with current educational methods/strategies such as learner-centered instruction, active learning, assessment, evaluation, collaborative techniques, and strategies aimed at closing the achievement gaps across race, gender, class, and disability.- Desire and ability to teach courses at both the collegiate transfer and technical/occupational program levels.-Ability to communicate complex and difficult concepts and ideas to students with varied backgrounds and levels of preparedness.-Engage in continuous improvement in the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods, as well as incorporating appropriate use of new and emerging technologies into the learning environment.-Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on course and program promotion, direction, and innovation.Qualifications:Education: Associate degree in Illustration, Graphic Design or UX/UIANDWork Experience: Five (5) years or 10,000 hours of professional experience (other than teaching) in illustration, Graphic Design, or related field. At least 1 year of occupational work experience (2,000 hours) must be within 5 years prior to the date of appointment (this can be waived if the instructor has at least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in the field within the previous 5 years)ANDExperience with or willingness to learn different modes of instruction (online, hybrid, Classroom Live, and modes of the future).APPLICATION PROCEDURES (Required):
