Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is one of New Jersey’s largest non-profit social service agencies with programs and facilities serving Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties.We are currently seeking a full time Outreach Worker for our Supportive Services for Veteran's Families Program (SSVF), located in Newark, NJ. The SSVF program provides case management and temporary financial assistance to veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.Job Duties:
  • Regularly attends work in conformance with the work schedule designated by the supervisor
  • Develops relationships with local social services and public benefit agencies, shelters and faith-based and community-based organizations serving low-income, at risk and homeless veteran families
  • Develops relationships with local VA facilities, including Vet Centers and Veteran Benefit Administration (VBA) offices
  • Participates in conferences, workshops, special projects, and staff meetings
  • Adheres to the VA-SSVF Program Guide and program policies and procedures
  • Manages time and works independently and Participates in street outreach to identify homeless Veterans and presents the SSVF program as an alternative to homelessness
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years of related experience
  • Valid driver's license
