- Partner directly with our investment team to build marketing plans that garner the attention and respect of the next generation of consumer startup founders
- Be a beacon and trusted advisor for dozens of portfolio companies - you'll be the specialist they'll turn to on brand marketing, media strategy, issues management, internal communications, and on how to use their voices to grow their brands
- Build strong industry and media networks and secure high-quality brand-building opportunities for partners to write, speak, and lead key conversations
- Collaborate with the broader a16z marketing team on overall firm brand initiatives, including cross-team marketing dinners, portfolio workshops, and networking receptions
- Be responsible for the continued development of a16z's marketing agency network - this includes identifying and vetting appropriate agencies/consultants
- 15+ years experience in brand and/or product marketing with hands-on expertise in leading strategic multi-pronged brand marketing campaigns across social, written content, video, events, and public relations
- Strong partnership skills: we are connectors at our core and find joy in building trusted connections within the firm, with our portfolio, and with the industries in which we operate
- Lifelong learner: we are techno-optimists who dig in deep on big new ideas and work hard to demystify complex subject matter to audiences through press, speaking and content
- Self-starter with strong ability to build from 0-1, context-shift, learn, and drive meaningful results
- High EQ: able to persuade, influence, and build trust at the executive level
- Strong brand marketing skills: proven track record of creating and executing on marketing campaigns that take strategic and novel approaches at engaging audiences
- Respect for the entrepreneurial struggle and eagerness to coach, counsel, and support entrepreneurs of all stages with both compassion and expertise
- Low ego, high empathy, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
- In office presence in San Francisco as needed
