HOURS:
  • Early Childhood Student Attendance: 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.
  • Early Childhood Staff Attendance: 3.5 hours (8:45 A.M.-12:15 P.M.)
  • Elementary Student Attendance: 8:00 A.M. - 12:45 P.M.
  • Elementary Staff Attendance: 5.25 hours (7:45 A.M.-1:00 P.M.)
  • Secondary Student Attendance: 8:00 A.M. - 12:45 P.M.
  • Secondary Staff Attendance: 5.25 hours (7:45 A.M.-1:00 P.M.)
  • Pathways Student Attendance: 9:00 A.M. - 1:45 P.M.
  • Pathways Staff Attendance: 5.25 hours (8:45 A.M.-2:00 P.M.)
Qualified applicant must hold a valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License with School Social Worker endorsement.GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The School Social Worker provides services that strengthen home, school, and community partnerships and address barriers to learning and achievement. The School Social Worker contributes to the development of a healthy, safe, and caring environment by promoting the understanding of the social-emotional development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success and by implementing effective intervention strategies.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: * Identify and assess school, home, and community factors affecting student’s school functioning.
  • Serve as a liaison between families and the school to positively promote collaboration to improve student achievement.
  • Implement appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in students’ behavioral and social interactions.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students and their families.
  • Collaborate with school staff in implementing strategies to promote student learning.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Provide staff consultation on behavioral-emotional-environmental issues affecting student articipation in the learning process.
  • Conduct social skills groups and classroom presentations on identified areas of concern for the students.
  • Maintain required clinical records and submit appropriate end of ESY reports on goal information for the student's special education file and the next year's social worker.
  • Support and implement District policies and procedures, regulations, and administrative directives.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education.
