- Supervises the daily activities involved in providing professional counseling services to juveniles exhibiting a wide range of psycho-social problems.
- Monitors workload of subordinate counselors to insure efficient and effective management of cases and services.
- Provides guidance, advice, instruction and assistance to subordinate counselors as required.
- Regularly performs the most difficult and complex professional counseling to juveniles.
- Formulates and recommends changes in policies and procedures relating to the juvenile counseling program.
- Participates in providing in-house training of subordinate counselors.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with Family court, the schools, welfare and other community agencies by providing guidance and assistance as requested.
- Interviews potential delinquents to analyze and diagnose individual problems and assist individual juveniles in their adjustment to social conditions and environmental factors.
- Schedules conferences and staff meetings to discuss individual cases and/or plan specific juvenile counseling services.
- Refers juveniles to other community agencies when youths are determined to be inappropriate for department 's counseling program.
- Prepares reports, correspondence, case records, and other documents as needed.
- May represent the department in testifying before Family Court.
