will use a variety of machines in Engine Machine Shop. Machinist will start with raw material and form/fabricate a finished detail part.Essential Functions:
- Review drawings, instructions, blueprint, or a sample and reproduce a correct detail work piece.
- Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping raw material to work piece in blueprint or drawing.
- Operate and maintain lathe, grinder, drill, saw, and milling machines.
- Operate manual machines, CNC machines, stick/tig welder and various hand tools.
- Select proper machine and settings for a given task.
- Plan proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Monitor work piece while manually machining, adjust feed and other settings as necessary to achieve desired finish.
- Check quality assurance and document or discard defects.
- Identify and perform minor machine maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain a safe and clean workstation.
- Contribute to team effort by completing related tasks as needed.
- Create standard work instructions and track daily tasks.
- Receive Engine oil deliveries and machine shop deliveries.
- Help Engine Shop maintain environmental compliance at tank farm, in machine shop and around all 3 engine plants.
- Handle assembly line tool replacement and air tool rebuild.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management
- 2 year technical degree preferred
- 2 – 4 years of job related experience preferred
- Experience working with machine tools and/or fabrication preferred
- Working knowledge of safety protocols preferred
- MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
- Problem solving, precision measurement, and GD&T skills preferred
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient math and basic mechanics skills
- Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
