- Ensure the identification of opportunities to minimize contract risk and plan commercial risk mitigation strategies;
- Assist the project team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with Prime Contract obligations are maintained
- Craft, evaluate, negotiate, and execute a wide variety of different contracts covering a range of Construction transactions;
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance of appropriate strategic commercial approach, based on contract type and/or construction delivery method;
- Solve any contract-related problems that may arise with other parties and internally with the company itself;
- Provide on-demand contractual clarifications / position statements to project team members as required
- Provide support and analysis on all customer, JV/Partner, and sub-contractor contract-related commercial impacts and risks, to or from S&B USA Construction (For example – contract negotiation/formation, placing customer on notice for delays/impacts, contract changes/credits, or defending against assertions/claims.);
- Support Project Managers with proper negotiation and management of change orders to maximize returns;
- Assist in the preparation of monthly internal and external reports on contract/commercial matters, as required.
- Assist operations teams with claims preparation support and disputes handling in accordance with the contract provisions and their interpretation;
- Maintain records for correspondence and documentation in relation to established contracts and those in progress;
- Monitor contracts and move forward with close-out, retention, extension, or renewal according to what’s best for S&B USA Construction;
- Assist project operation with the management of contractual claims for time and money, both affirmative and defensive with both customers and subcontractors.
- Drafting and/or reviewing key project correspondence with regard to commercial content, contract interpretation and potential claims;
- Identify and manage project commercial and contracting risks and coordinate mitigation measures and contractual insurance requirements.
- Maintain a good understanding of the contractual issues on the Project.
- Degree in Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Business / Law / Contract Management (or equivalent).
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in construction industry contracts of which at least 3 years in contract & commercial roles in complex, large scale construction industry practice.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of managing and negotiation of contracts for medium to large-scale design/build or EPC projects.
- Advanced knowledge of construction contract administration and the principles of purchasing, finance and estimating.
- Proven contractual management ability.

- Thorough knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts.

- Ability to operate under pressure and to meet tight and demanding deadlines.
- Experience working within a P3 and/or Design-Build Environment would be preferred but not required.
- Experience in claim/dispute management would be preferred but not required.
- Travel will be required
- Partial exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- Noise levels in the work environment which may be loud.
- Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.
