JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Benefits Access CounselorJOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt or XNon-Exempt XFull-time Part-time (35 hours)DEPARTMENT: Community Based ServicesREPORTS TO: Lola DeCarlo-Coles; CEO(Benefits Program)DIRECT REPORTS: Lola DeCarlo-ColesSummaryRespond to all requests for benefits throughout the CSS Community Based Service Division. Provides one-on-one assistance with application to Pennsylvania benefit programs. Conduct intake screening, link to benefits and services within CSS and to other community resources as appropriate. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responds directly to all incoming calls/walk-ins requesting assistance with PA benefits.
  • Conduct initial screenings to determine eligibility, schedule appointments, and complete enrollments.
  • Provide services linkage to eligible benefits and linkage to appropriate community resources.
  • Responsible for services provided to clients, follow-up of services, and monitoring
  • Maintains weekly documentation of services provided and maintain organized client files.
  • Provide monthly service reports of statistics and outcomes.
  • Actively recruits for programs to maintain consistent client base.
  • Work collaboratively with other community organizations to provide services.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork required by CSS an funding sources weekly.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings, weekly supervision, training and meetings required by both CSS and funders.
  • Others tasks and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and orientation to the philosophy of the Agency as presented in the Mission Statement
  • Strict adherence to the Archdiocesan position on abortion
  • Requires minimum Bachelor of Social Work or related field with 1 -3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania Benefits to Low-Income residents
  • Ability to maintain a professional partnership with other community organizations
  • Outstanding communication skills(listening, needs assessment, empathy)
  • Superb attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Strong computer skills including MS office
  • Ability to work as a positive team member in a productive environment
Education - Requires minimum Bachelor of Social Work or related field with 1 - 3Experience
