Summary:The Field Engineer is responsible for all project layout and dimensional accuracy, interpretation of plans and specifications. Works directly with the Project Management team and Project Superintendent typically at the jobsite. Conforms to corporate policies and procedures, upholds ethical standards, and exemplifies corporate values, with an emphasis on integrity and service.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Thoroughly understand project documents, including drawings, specifications, and addendums.
  • Able to complete a layout in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Delivers layout information to the project team to ensure proper execution of all work.
  • Able to identify any discrepancies in drawings prior to execution.
  • Write R.F.I.s with Project Manager to receive the correct information in a timely manner.
  • Sets up and maintains permanent control throughout the entire line and grade portion of the project.
  • Ability to operate builder level, transit, laser engineering instruments, Total Station, Robotic Total Station and/or Theodolite equipment system.
  • Able to create needed points within the Data Collector as needed.
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Understands Coordinate Geometry Geometric Theory & Geometric Functions Application to establish surveying/data/layout points.
  • Coordinates with the project lead to ensure proper scheduling and sequencing.
  • Must be available to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordination between other trades to ensure proper placement of work.
  • Coordination between multiple projects.
  • Conducts installation inspections with the Superintendent, understands zero defect philosophy, verifies correct completion of material inspections and material delivery docs, and assists with QMS.
  • Monitors scope in CM Manual.
  • Can safely operate standard equipment on jobsites.
  • Monitors layout accuracy and consistently checks confirmation during building process.
  • Ability to work with team to complete carpentry tasks as needed.
  • This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes.
  • All other tasks as assigned.
Education/Skill Requirements:
  • A 4-year college degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or similar program or equivalent work experience.
  • Some career experience in commercial construction preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Must be willing and able to speak before groups of people in project interviews and meetings.
  • OSHA 10-hour training.
  • Microsoft Office suite.
  • Sage Estimating and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (accounting application).
  • Scheduling software(s).
  • Prolog Manager.
  • Maintain positive relationship with clients, designers, and vendors.
  • Actively promote safe execution of projects, with an achievable goal of zero jobsite incidents.
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret building codes, zoning ordinances, OSHA requirements, and other legal restrictions.
  • Understand construction schedule and anticipate project flow.
  • Prepare minor and miscellaneous pricing.
  • Acute attention to detail to assist in research, investigation, or financial review.
  • Manage multiple scopes of work, both subcontracted and self-performed.
  • Plan, prepare, and run jobsite meetings as needed.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to continuously sit, stand, or walk.
  • Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in heat or cold, work outside, and work in high elevations.
Work environment:
