- Assists the Chair in strategic planning for academic programs and recommends new and existing opportunities for enrichment and advancement of trainees
- Furnishes an annual report to the Chair detailing the accomplishments and near-term opportunities and challenges
- Assists with initiatives including development, diversity, wellness, clinical sciences, and resource planning
- Develops, implements, and manages an academic strategic plan that ensures consistent growth and success across all missions
- Responsible for ensuring the Radiology Department's research and education goals are integrated and aligned
- Works closely with the Chair to develop budgets and manage resources for all academic programming
- Creates and implements, with departmental leaders, new academic programs to achieve the Radiology Department's vision and goals
- Ensures alignment between all missions, sections, and divisions by meeting with relevant leadership regularly

- Represents department with institutional GME, UME committees
b. Reviews applicants and makes recommendations for committeesFaculty Development, Guidance and Representation * Provides career mentoring to program directors, associate program directors, education program managers, and designees.
- Oversees Departmental education initiatives
- Offers information and guidance to Radiology faculty members regarding medical education, UME, GME and adjacent educational programs
- Represents the Department in trainee issues or disputes, particularly those of an academic or professional nature.
- Collaborates with the Vice Chair of Research in research efforts when appropriate
- Full-time faculty member in the Department of Radiology
- Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent
- Fellowship training or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience in academic radiology practice, education and/or research, with academic achievement and productivity as evidenced by a combination of scholarship, publications, and/or grant funding, as well as track record of active participation in national academic activities, and recognition in academics.
- Minimum of two years of experience in education leadership at the program director level for accredited residencies and/or fellowships
- Experience in guiding and mentoring junior faculty, fellows, resident physicians and medical students in academic activities
- Demonstrated ethical conduct, professionalism, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and management abilities to effectively direct and develop academic physicians and support staff.
