As the Director of Policy and Advocacy, you'll be instrumental in developing and executing strategic advocacy initiatives aimed at driving policy change and advancing our mission and goals. We're looking for someone with a solid background in policy analysis, advocacy strategy development, and stakeholder engagement.   • Develop and execute strategic advocacy plans to advance our policy priorities and legislative agenda at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Conduct in-depth policy analysis and research on key issues affecting our mission and target populations, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, track policy proposals, and assess their potential impact on our organization and stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with policymakers, government officials, and other stakeholders, advocating for policy change and representing our interests in policy discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Lead coalition-building efforts, collaborating with other organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders to amplify our collective voices and influence policy outcomes.
  • Ensure community engagement in policy debates and advocacy efforts, advocating for policies that promote equity, justice, and opportunity for all residents.
  • Plan and execute grassroots advocacy campaigns, mobilizing supporters and engaging them in advocacy actions such as contacting elected officials and participating in public forums.
  • Collaborate with communications and outreach teams to develop advocacy materials and educate stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to policy and advocacy staff and volunteers, setting goals, providing guidance and support, and evaluating performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of our policy and advocacy initiatives, tracking outcomes and assessing the effectiveness of our strategies.
Professional Skills & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in public policy, political science, law, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in policy analysis, advocacy, or government relations, with a proven track record of successful advocacy campaigns and policy wins, including 3 years ina supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of the legislative process, government institutions, and policy-making mechanisms at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to analyze complex policy issues, synthesize information, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with policymakers, government officials, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and compellingly for diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, partners, and supporters.
  • Knowledge of local community dynamics and cultural awareness.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and advocacy tools such as online advocacy platforms, voter engagement tools, and legislative tracking systems.
  • Commitment to our mission and values, with a passion for social change and a deep commitment to advancing equity and justice through policy advocacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility, independence, and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Current and valid driver’s license.
Physical Conditions:
The staff person must be able to attend meetings on nights and weekends as needed. EHCEC is a collaborative work setting. Employees pitch in to help each other with responsibilities as needed. Team members will be expected to contribute to teamwork and a sense of collaboration.Disclaimer:
