This faculty position requires expertise in teaching emergency medical technician (EMT) and advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT). Emergency Medical Services Program faculty are professional educators whose primary responsibility is to educate students in the EMT, AEMT and Paramedic program as they strive to become professionals. Faculty acts as role models to students, Emergency Medical Professionals and members of the college community. Efforts to improve instruction, student relationships, and student retention are expected. Faculty at the College Of Southern Idaho are expected to always be prepared for class, enthusiastic, and committed to the ideal that all students can and will learn given an educational environment that is stimulating, compassionate and equitable.Responsibilities of the Full Time Faculty Member:
  • Work 37.5 hours a week as outlined in the CSI Faculty Handbook.
  • Schedule at least 5 office hours per week, 1 hour/day, for meeting with students.
  • Teach in the classroom and lab.
  • Serve on Department and College committees.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings as scheduled.
  • Attend and participate in monthly course and Program meetings.
  • Participate in the four-part evaluation process and the Plan for Improvement process each year.
  • Actively participate in professional associations.
  • Development and implementation of course syllabi and course specific curriculum following the current curriculum guides.
  • Develop measurable student outcomes assessment strategies to gage success of instruction.
  • Work with the EMS team lending ideas, expertise and new clinical practices to the team and Program.
  • Participate in the revision of the curriculum as necessary.
  • Coordinate the state approval for courses within the EMS Programs.
  • Assist with the oversight of clinical documentation for students.
  • Evaluate student progress and outcomes in the areas of cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains according to the policies of the Program and follow established guidelines set forth in the curriculum.
  • Comply with all Idaho Career Technical Education policies and procedures, including, obtaining and maintaining Idaho CTE teacher certification.
  • Assist with coordination of the EMS Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
  • Engage in the scholarship of teaching as defined by the State CTE and EMS Bureau(s).
  • Maintain and keep current all EMS certifications and AHA certifications as required for the level of EMS certification possessed.
  • Assist with the coordination of EMS Program events.
  • Assist with the coordination of Paramedic Program selection and admission.
  • Assist Program Manager with PR and Marketing tasks.
  • Work civilly and cooperatively with colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Associate of Applied Science required; higher degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of EMS/Paramedic experience.
  • Maintain the Idaho Instructor and CTE teaching certification.
  • Emotional and physical health to enable full participation in the classroom and clinical areas.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Willingness to communicate effectively with a team.
  • Follow the established procedures and policies located in the CSI Faculty Handbook and the EMS Student Handbook.
