Sentara Health hiring an experienced Sr. Laboratory Histologist to work full time day shifts with the education department.Position requires travel to varies Sentara locations.Job duties to perform Histology functions to include accessioning, microtomy, embedding and slide preparations utilizing scientific knowledge of histology principles and following standard operating procedures. Maintains technical policies and procedures; operates and maintains equipment, instruments, tools, and manages inventory.Demonstrates fiscal responsibility. Assists Manager with daily operations, coordination of work, achievement of departmental goals and objectives, customer satisfaction, and in meeting regulatory requirements. Maintains specialized expertise within assigned area. Routinely assumes charge of department in prioritizing workload and resolving problems in absence of Manager.Job Requirements:
  • Associate degree in a chemical, physical or biological science
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • ASCP-HT or ASCP-HTL certification
  • 2 years Histology experience

Associate degree in a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution required. Bachelor degree preferred. Education, experience and ASCP certification must be maintained within the specific discipline.
