- Read and interpret basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and work orders to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions
- Assist with or assemble basic sections of machines to customer specifications; attach unit to assembly, subassembly or frame using various hand and power tools
- Perform basic mechanical assembly operations to exacting tolerances; position and align parts using fixtures, jigs and templates; work with rotating shafts, gear trains, mechanical structures, and sprockets. Drill, tap, ream, countersink, and spotface bolt holes in parts; file, lap and buff parts to fit; clean and lubricate parts and subassemblies
- Use measuring instruments to level and align work, detect and eliminate run-out, work to close tolerances with a demand for square, concentricity and parallelism.
- Assist with or assemble basic electrical or electronic systems or support structures and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings using rivets, bolts, and soldering equipment
- Label, wire and connect switch boxes and control panel terminal boards from basic wiring diagrams. Check wiring for proper coding and termination; check for shorts, grounds, and continuity.
- Assist with the detection of defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation
- Strong mechanical and electrical assembly skills
- Attention to detail and precision in assembly work
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in electro-mechanical assembly is preferred
- Ability to work overtime as needed
