- Maintain familiarity with CDBG‐DR requirements relative to homeowner participation and construction work in the homeowner assistance program.
- Observe R3 Program projects’ job activities and identify any site hazards.
- Ensure that the company complies with all regulatory and R3 Program guidelines (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Provide direction to management and employees for immediate actions if hazards or compliance issues are present.
- Identify conditions which could produce accidents and communicate to operations management so that conditions can be eliminated.
- Communicate safety findings to peer Safety Professionals so that information is shared between areas and sites.
- Participate in post-accident investigations and make recommendations to prevent accidents from recurring.
- Prepare and assist with accident documentation (e.g. witness statements, photos, etc.).
- Assist with care of an injured employee and, if directed by the Safety Manager, accompany the employee to initial and follow-up medical treatment to ensure that employee receives proper care, and that the physician understands employee’s duties and explanation of our light duty policy.
- Plan, implement and coordinate programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses or deaths and financial losses.
- Assist with the development of Corporate policies and procedures for safety.
- Maintain safety data and enter it into the EHS Management System.
- Participate and/or lead reviews of safety data and help develop responses for any identified trends.
- Conduct safety training to existing and new employees, including Subcontractors.
- Create records of safety training for R3 Program projects and ensure that they are properly input into Quickbase and any other company’s platforms.
- Complete minimum of two (2) daily required field hazard assessments.
- Coach foremen and craft/construction personnel on proper use of pre-task plans.
- Visually inspect company’s vehicles/equipment for damage and roadworthiness.
- Assist in pre-job/shutdown planning.
- Make personal contact with the working crews, Subcontractors and PM Inspectors to build relationships, address concerns and identify improvement opportunities.
- Counsel/coach employee when policy infractions are noted.
- Attend customer sponsored/mandated safety meetings.
- Elevate concerns or issues to senior staff, as appropriate.
- Provide support to other team members as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- One of the following:
- High School Graduate, OSHA 30, and 5 years of industrial construction field experience
- Associate degree and 3 years of industrial construction field experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years of industrial construction experience
- Two (2) years of safety experience in any construction or general industry setting
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and be proactive when confronting challenges.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Problem-solving skills with a keen eye for details.
- Ability to manage time effectively, establish priorities, and to finish tasks quickly.
- Strong verbal as well as written communication skills.
- Must possess a valid Driver's license
- Must have 30hrs OSHA certification
- Considerable knowledge of occupational safety and health, construction management, inspection, methods, and materials.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish.
