Job Description:We are seeking an Optical/Thin Film Engineer in our Budd Lake, NJ facility. This role is a part of our fast-paced engineering team and plays a key role in the development of state-of-the-art, high-performance optical coatings for next generation laser products.Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design optical thin film coatings for UV, VIS and NIR
  • Develop coating processes for magnetron, IBS, and e-beam coating technologies
  • Recipe development & Parameter optimization
  • Tooling specification & design
  • Test & Inspection Requirements
  • Create process documentation including work instructions and procedures
Education & Experience
  • B.S. or M.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in optical thin films coatings preferred
Skills
  • Proven related academic studies will be considered
  • Experience with thin film optical design and characterization preferred but will train
  • Non-linear optics and birefringent materials experience a plus
  • Essential Macleod and/or OptiLayer coating design (SolidWorks exp is a plus)
  • Strong experimental and analytical skills paired with sound engineering judgment.
  • Must be self-driven and have demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to perform in a distributed, diverse cross-functional team environment.
