Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:The Assistant Vice President, Principal Mobile Software Development Engineer craves working in a hands-on mobile environment and leads by example to make sure projects are delivered on time and to specification. To be successful in this role, you will need deep expertise in iOS or Android development, as well as a strong understanding of the entire technology stack top to bottom. This dynamic and collaborative role will be part of the Synchrony's Consumer Banking Team.This AVP will lead the development and release process of the Mobile software and SDKs for Synchrony and its clients by developing thoughtful solutions to anticipate bugs, maintain operational excellence, deliver a quality product efficiently and provide production support. Do you consider user experience in your decision making and think like a user?Have tech chops: Boasting a mobile SDK development background is a must.Essential Responsibilities:Lead a development team through all phases of the Agile development life cycleWork hand in hand with the Scrum Master and Product Owner to ensure developers are able to work without impediments or missing requirementsManage a team of software developersInfluence and collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and clients to deliver amazing featuresMentor and influence all levels of the team: in this role, you will have the opportunity to influence up and down the chain of commandEnsure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony FinancialBecome a subject matter expert across all featuresAssist in crafting and maintaining the future state architectural strategy and roadmapEnsure application code quality from development to releaseParticipate in root cause analyses, incident reports and provide direction in resolutionProvide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the yearIdentify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performanceWrite process documentation including feature troubleshooting, testing and release checklists, and post-release monitoringTriaging complex issues at all stages of the development life cycleStep outside of your domain expertise and learn the entire stackParticipate in thoughtful code review and continuously drive the quality of the code to its highest potentialQualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field and a minimum 4 years of experience with application developmentMinimum of 3 years of Mobile Application Development experience with object-oriented design and development patternsDesired Characteristics:System level understanding of the products you've worked onExperience with library and/or framework distributionExperience with continuous development and integration environmentsExperience writing unit and integration testsExperience with Async/await in SwiftFamiliarity with JSON, REST and XML based web servicesWorking knowledge of the overall mobile industry including Android and mobile webExcellence in technical communication with technical and non-technical peers, including external partnersDesire to work in a dynamic fast paced environmentExperience developing and supporting financial applicationsExcellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management, and external groupsStrong attention to detail in a team environmentStrong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, create action plans, and analyze impactExperience with writing scripts and automationExperience leading cross functional engineering teamsGrade/Level: 11The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.Eligibility Requirements:You must be 18 years or olderYou must have a high school diploma or equivalentYou must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding processYou must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post.
