- Establish and maintain a full-time presence on campus for the Office of the Dean of Students; including daily operations, outreach, and overall coordination of services.
- Provide direct oversight, supervision, and support for Student Health Center and University Counseling Services, and collaborate in the support of management/oversight of housing (residence halls) administration.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, support, and leadership for staff and student employees.
- Represent the Division of Student Affairs on various committees, working groups, and task forces within the University; advocate for students by representing their needs to staff, faculty, and administrators.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Chair the University CARE Team which serves as the centralized body for discussion and action regarding students in need of additional academic and personal support, and students exhibiting behaviors that may indicate distress.
- Provide non-clinical case management services for students referred to the CARE Team including information gathering, risk/threat level assessment, and determining appropriate behavioral interventions.
- Provide direct support for students in crisis and coordinate with campus and community partners to ensure cohesive integration of resources for students experiencing psychological, academic, financial, social, and other personal challenges.
- Communicate sensitive and confidential matters regarding complex cases within the guidelines of FERPA, including communication with family members of students in crisis.
- Manage, track, and maintain accurate, detailed CARE Team student records in Maxient.
- Coordinate EdSights Chatbot outreach and data tracking.
- Develop and deliver specialized training to the campus community regarding students of concern and serve as a point of contact for campus community members who are seeking consultation and advice on how to manage complex student issues.
- Serve as the primary investigator and adjudicator in the student conduct process; respond to alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct and enforce sanctions and outcomes, including restriction of privileges, suspension, and eligibility for reinstatement.
- Ensure conduct hearings are conducted in accordance with University procedures and guidelines, and all parties involved are informed of their rights and responsibilities.
- Provide annual and ongoing revisions of the Student Code of Conduct in consultation with the Dean of Students.
- Manage, track, and maintain accurate, detailed student conduct records in Maxient.
- Develop and deliver training in areas related to the Student Code of Conduct for Resident Advisors, Student Leaders, and other community members.
- Lead the ongoing assessment and evaluation of Student Affairs programs and practices to address the changing needs of students, align with best practices, and meet institutional strategic goals and objectives.
- Oversee annual submission and tracking of Institutional Effectiveness Plans and Reports for each department in Student Life.
- Organize and facilitate the Annual Student Affairs Assessment Retreat where departments share their annual assessment data and reports.
- Represent the Division on the Institutional Assessment Committee and assist with accreditation preparation and compliance.
- Master's degree required, preferably in Counseling, Psychology, Student Development, Higher Education, or related field.
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible student affairs experience within a university setting working with highly complex issues and situations.
- Proven experience in leading collaborative efforts between multiple constituencies including faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
- Advanced experience working with students in crisis, creating behavioral intervention plans, case management, risk/threat assessment.
- Advanced experience assisting students in need of support meeting mental/physical health, financial, academic, and other needs.
- Ability to work with sensitive issues and confidential records and materials.
- Demonstrated experience in addressing student conduct including knowledge of FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX, ADA, and other laws, legislation, and policies that may affect students and the campus.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including experience creating training curriculum for faculty and staff on how best to support students in academic or personal distress.
- Demonstrated understanding of underrepresented groups and initiatives that enhance efforts to attract students and support their persistence.
- Excellent leadership skills with ability to work independently, determine priorities, multi-task, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Effective management, planning, budgeting, and organizational skills including experience in the supervision and development of staff and student employees.
