Job Description:This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church. Performs semi or unskilled physical labor and building maintenance activities as instructed.This is a 6-month temporary position located in Nauvoo, Illinois.Responsibilities:
  • Loads and unloads supplies, materials, equipment, trash, etc. from trucks.
  • Moves furniture and equipment within a building or from one building to another.
  • Drives trucks as needed.
  • Dig holes and trenches, rakes, grades ground, shovels snow and cleans walks
  • Water and mow lawns, plants, things, weeds, wraps shrubs and flowers.
  • Haul top soil and sows grass seed
  • Carries out demolition work; assists carpenters and other craftsmen as assigned
  • Perform cleaning duties throughout the building in accordance with outlined cleaning programs
  • Perform special cleanup duties as they arise
  • Performs minor mechanical, plumbing and electrical repairs as needed
  • Performs minor surface repairs and applies paint.
  • Cleans and preserves associated tools and equipment Installs new or repaired equipment, as required by the Building Manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Effectively communicates, coordinates, and cooperates with supervisors, customers, and others to facilitate workflow and to ensure that all work in done according to time, quality, and cost expectation.
  • Clean roof drains and gutters and may assists in roof inspections
  • Assemble and disassemble scaffolding
  • Work with other groups to assist in maintenance, repairs, construction, and remodels.
  • Performs a wide range of construction tasks and operates forklifts, drilling equipment, and other construction equipment.
Qualifications:Required:
  • 3 years experience
  • Maintenance experience or Trade Tech school training desirable
  • Physically able and willing to do strenuous work involving shovels, picks, and other tools, sometimes under inclement weather conditions
  • Must be congenial, have neat appearance and be able to work well with others
  • Must be mechanically adept to permit performance of Building Operations and Maintenance functions
  • Understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety. Capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing, and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed.
  • Must pass all required safety and equipment certifications and trainings.
  • Must be able to work in a professional manner with others as well as alone without constant supervision.
  • Must have a positive attitude with the ability to work as a team.
  • May be required to have a valid driver's license
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to independently lift objects weighing as much as 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must also be able to team lift and position objects weighing as much as 100 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts for extended periods of time.
  • Work for extended periods of time standing, kneeling, stooping, squatting, sitting or prone positions.
Preferred:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with forklifts, trucks, and construction equipment
