This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that faculty and students have access to cutting-edge lab technologies that are pivotal for a productive learning environment. The Lab Technology Specialist will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and networking solutions within the lab settings, ensuring the seamless integration of technology in support of academic excellence.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Serves as a resource for internal and external customers.Provides primary administration responsibility for basic software products or systems.Assists with production control, disaster recovery, networking, computer operations, or other operating systems.Technology Implementation and Support: Install, configure, and maintain lab computers, software applications, and equipment. Provide immediate technical support to faculty and students to resolve issues promptly.Training and Development: Offer training sessions and workshops for faculty and students on the effective use of lab technologies, basic coding skills, and software applications relevant to academic disciplines.Maintenance and Upgrades: Regularly evaluate lab technology infrastructure to recommend and implement upgrades or replacements, as necessary. Ensure that all lab technologies adhere to current industry standards and educational best practices.Collaboration: Work closely with faculty to understand their technological needs and assist in integrating technology into their curriculum and research projects.Vendor Liaison: Act as the primary contact for technology vendors, manage procurement of new technologies, and ensure warranties and licenses are up to date.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of lab technology assets, user guides, and troubleshooting procedures. Prepare and present reports on technology usage, challenges, and progress to stakeholders.Provides technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including:Beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other health care equipmentMedication dispensing systems.Vital sign monitorProvides technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors, and staff in the use of simulation equipment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Three years of related experience in IT.Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications3-5 years of experience in IT, specifically in higher education with exposure to lab technologies.Foundational knowledge of ITIL practices.Other RequirementsExcellent technical troubleshooting skillsProficient knowledge in hardware, software, networking, and basic coding abilities.Ability to work flexible hours.SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:This position generally does not supervise employees.OPEN UNTIL FILLED.
