For the System Operations digitization program, we are looking for a Python Software Engineer with an affinity for data-oriented systems and knowledge of Data Science for the Agile Release Train (ART): System Operations Services and specifically the Profile Load-flow operations team.Description:
The client manages a large part of the medium and low voltage grid in the Netherlands. The energy transition also has consequences for network operators such as the client. Digitization is increasingly making an appearance in the management of the grid. The digitization teams of both ARTs work on microservices solutions, which are asked all kinds of questions about our electricity grid.
The questions provide answers to, among other things, Can maintenance work continue, given the expected weather forecasts ? Or Do we expect a bottleneck in our electricity network sometime in the next 24 hours? One of the built solutions functions as a so-called integration platform, where the necessary data is compiled from various sources at lightning speed, recorded in a database and accessed via a secure REST API.
In addition to building the system, the various teams are also responsible for production and tasks such as monitoring, logging (Elasticsearch), etc. The underlying architecture is designed on the principles of a microservice architecture, a cloud (openshift/kubernetes) platform and various data sources.
As a team, we are working on estimating the grid state and the power load flow on the middle voltage grid, what is necessary to offer all kinds of smart solutions for the customers. Using customer profiles, we calculate the free space throughout the day for the whole year, which ensures that new customers can join to the grid, or a higher capacity can be requested. In this way we contribute to the objective of the energy transition to provide continuous insight into the flows of our electricity network, in the here and now and in the future. Your task will be to develop new features and to make our estimations better, our calculation methodology faster, while also ensuring the safety of our electric grid.Your work involves developing concepts and carrying out grid calculations to realize customer connections without making major capital investments. With your python knowledge, you are able to add features into our existing products, oversee and solve complex analytical problems. You are able to think critically, open for new ideas and eager to learn about the challenges of the energy transition.
We are looking for a senior/medior python software engineer with Experience of Data Science to contribute to this objective and to further expand it functionally and technically. Extensive programming experience in Python is a must have.We also ask:
- Software engineer who adapts quickly to complex, large-scale environments.
- Knowledge and experience of working in a SCRUM/Agile DevOps team.
- Writing and maintaining automatic tests.
- Knowledge and experience with developing APIs and REST and/or event streaming (such as Kafka) in particular.
- Experience and affinity with developing data(science) applications, data modeling and big data.
- Knowledge of various database platforms such as Postgres, DynamoDB, InfluxDB, Neo4J etc.
- Knowledge and experience with microservice architecture
- Experience in the energy sector and knowledge of network topology / connectivity
