Currently, we are seeking an experienced and creative Art and Portfolio Instructor to join our team.  

 

Position Details

Anticipated Start Date: Immediately

Location: 40 Vogell Rd Unit 1-3, Richmond Hill, ON L4B 3N6

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time

Salary: $ 48,000 - $ 55,000 per year

Benefit: Paid vacation days

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching various painting techniques to students, including but not limited to oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor painting, and mixed media techniques.
  • Illustrating different painting methods and approaches, providing students with visual examples and practical guidance.
  • Providing constructive feedback and critiques on students' work, helping them to develop their artistic voice, refine their skills, and conceptualize their ideas.
  • Designing and updating teaching materials and lesson plans, ensuring that it covers a wide range of skills and techniques while also being engaging and relevant to students.
  • Offering guidance on students’ artistic development, personal goals, and personal growth.
  • Evaluating students’ learning progress by preparing and grading assessments.
  • Helping students solve problems that may impede successful program completion through advising and assisting.
  • Supervising junior teaching assistants and providing necessary training.
  • Assisting in managing the school, ensuring that the school is well-equipped, organized and conductive to creativity.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across different disciplines within the art school can enrich the learning experience for students and foster a sense of community among faculty members.
  • Participating in faculty meetings, assisting with curriculum revision and delivery methods.
  • Staying up-to-date with developments in the art industry and continually expanding knowledge and skills.
  • Designing and teaching portfolio development courses for art school candidates.
  • Preparing students for portfolio reviews and interview.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A college diploma or above, major in painting, fine art, art education or related field is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in art education for children and adults.
  • Excellent portfolio showcasing a range of painting work.
  • Knowledge of art school & college admissions.
  • Be able to work flexible hours, weekends and evening.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to communicate in English.
