The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for an Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor, for the MS Gulf Coast Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located in Biloxi, Mississippi.Job Summary: Plans, instructs, and leads members participating in fitness programs for individuals and groups; demonstrates proper exercise techniques; ensures the safe use of the facilities by assisting members in the area of personal fitness which includes but is not limited to: weight loss, weight gain, nutritional guidance, goal setting, strength training, aerobic training, weight training and stress management as well as assist with the use of the various fitness equipment and ensuring the maintenance of fitness center exercise and audio equipment; assists members by answering questions about the RJKCCC and promotes repeat attendance.Performs other related work as required which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles and practices of a specific group fitness program. Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices. Knowledge of the principles and practices of nutrition, weight management and fitness programs. Ability to motivate members. Ability to work independently. Ability to implement and enforce program policies and procedures. Ability to meet quality standards and deadlines. Ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients.Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to perform duties with a combination of frequent sitting, standing and walking.Physical effort required associated with walking, running, standing, and moderate-to-advanced level cardio activityEducation and Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. and one year of experience leading a specific group fitness program, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses and Certifications:Certification relevant to fitness class being taughtPersonal Trainer CertificationCPR CertificationFirst Aide CertificationPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to perform duties with a combination of frequent sitting, standing and walking.
