Established in 1945, Ashley offers one of the industry’s broadest product assortments to retail partners in 123 countries.Title: Supervisor Quality Lab (Upholstery, Bedding & Casegoods)Summary· The Lab Supervisor at Ashley Furniture is responsible for overseeing the laboratory operations at multiple locations, including Ecru, Arcadia, Saltillo, Advance, and Leesport. They will manage a team of lab technicians, ensuring the efficient and accurate completion of tests on raw materials.· The Lab Supervisor will report to the Quality Lab Manager and will collaborate closely with the Lab Manager, develop training materials, and maintain equipment in each lab.Responsibilities· Supervise and manage a team of lab technicians across multiple locations.· Maintain time and attendance records for each lab employee.· Conduct weekly calls with each lab to ensure effective communication and address any issues.· Learn and understand all test procedures performed in the labs.· Develop training documents and quizzes for lab technicians to obtain certification.· Generate work orders for equipment maintenance in each lab.· Ensure tests are conducted in a timely manner based on raw material orders received.· Oversee the processing of special projects through the Ecru Lab within designated timelines.· Review completed tests using the GLS Database, Assist the Lab Manager in miscellaneous tasks and special projects, such as new raw material development or durability studies.· Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.· Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals.· Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.· Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.· Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth anddevelopment through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching,training, and company-offered learning opportunities.· Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials.· Demonstrate the Company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.Skills & Abilities:· Knowledge of raw materials used in furniture manufacturing is desired.· Previous experience in a laboratory setting desired, preferably in a supervisory role· Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and equipment is desired.· Proficient in using database systems for data entry and analysis.· Occasional Domestic Travel Required.
