- Designing and building web pages that help people fall in love and stay in love with George Fox University. Following industry best practices and George Fox brand guidelines to ensure the university's web properties are cutting edge, on-brand, user-friendly on all device types, accessible, and fast-loading.
- Working with the Art Director and other designers to translate web design style and elements to other mediums (print, advertising, signage, etc.) and vice-versa. Giving feedback to the other web designers on their designs.
- Serving as a collaborator in the direction of the George Fox University website approach, structure, design, and implementation.
- Keeping up with and implementing new technologies and design trends to keep the website at the forefront of web design.
- Designing assets to promote the university through other digital channels, such as social media, email, and online advertising.
- Representing the diversity of the university community through photo selection for designs.
- Conducting necessary duties to the website in the director's absence, such as granting permissions or approving web pages.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor's degree in a visual design field or other combination of relevant education and experience.
- The ability to design and develop new creative concepts that match existing brand guidelines and styles.
- Experience designing web pages, including a strong understanding of UX/UI and conversion rate optimization best practices in relation to web design and page layout.
- Experience creating style guides or other branding guidelines.
- At least 1 to 3 years experience in building web pages for different screen sizes by writing responsive HTML and CSS.
- Experience using photo editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience using prototyping tools, such as Adobe XD or Figma.
- Experience using vector graphics editing and design software, such as Adobe Illustrator
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, and to understand and follow instructions.
- The demonstrated ability to work as a team member to accomplish organizational and unit goals, including giving and receiving design feedback supported by expertise, research, and experience.
- The natural tendency to be a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple priorities under deadlines and a close attention to detail.
- A history of taking the initiative to propose new ideas, such as new design trends or technologies to adopt.
- The demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
- Experience with Bootstrap, Flexbox, CSS Grid, and SASS.
- Familiarity with page speed optimization best practices.
- Experience designing and building web pages as part of a design and development team.
- Experience with animation techniques, especially with CSS or SVGs.
- Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
- Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
- *Hybrid scheduling available after a training period
- Working Conditions: Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment
