Description :PurposeThe Development Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission and goals of Neighborcare by leading strategic fundraising initiatives and cultivating relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders. This position oversees the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, events, and grant proposals to generate revenue in support of the organization's programs and initiatives. The Development manager also develops comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve annual revenue goals, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events. The Development Manager collaborates closely with the Chief of Community Engagement, program staff, and communications team to amplify the organization's impact through storytelling and community engagement. This role also partners with the Chair of the Foundation Board to recruit and engage Neighborcare Foundation board of directors and raise awareness of Neighborcare. The foundation board is responsible for bringing in resources to ensure health equity for all our programs and resources.   • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and other stakeholders. Provide exceptional stewardship to donors to ensure long-term engagement and support.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve annual revenue goals, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events.
  • Lead the strategic development of fundraising initiatives in alignment with the organization's mission and goals. Identify emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in the fundraising landscape and adjust strategies accordingly to maximize impact and revenue generation.
  • Develop and manage the fundraising budget, tracking revenue and expenses to ensure financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Collaborate with the executive team, foundation board, board of directors, and program staff to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals and priorities. Provide leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers involved in fundraising activities.
  • Actively seek out and cultivate new partnerships with potential donors, sponsors, and community stakeholders. Develop strategies to re-engage existing donors and strengthen relationships to increase donor retention and support.
  • Develop an annual fund calendar outlining activities and initiatives for the year, including fundraising campaigns, events, donor outreach, and stewardship efforts. Ensure all activities are implemented on time and aligned with fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Manage engagement plans for annual and emerging level donors (high-mid-level donors, small/individual, recurring donors etc.). Develop personalized cultivation strategies, communication plans, and stewardship activities to deepen donor relationships and increase donor retention and support.
  • Collaborate with program staff and communications team to bring in patient and staff stories that illustrate the impact of the organization's work. Use these stories to connect staff more deeply to the foundation board, highlighting the importance of their contributions and fostering a sense of community and purpose.
  • Manage active portfolio of major donors, planned giving donors, and prospects; develop individual plans and strategies and track results.
  • Write briefing reports and proposals, stewardship reports, annual appeals, and assist with other donor communications as requested.
  • Partner with Chief of Community Engagement & Chair of the Foundation Board to recruit and engage Neighborcare Health Foundation board of directors and raise awareness of Neighborcare Health.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.
Event Planning & Management
  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of fundraising events and annual fundraising campaigns, ensuring they are aligned with organizational goals and effectively leverage opportunities for donor engagement, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising events and strategies, gathering feedback and metrics to inform future planning and optimization efforts.
  • Work closely with the Chief of Community Engagement and the Development team to plan and implement the annual fundraising plan. Collaborate on strategies for donor engagement, community outreach, and fundraising initiatives to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Partner with the Development Coordinator to ensure seamless production and execution of fundraising events including Feast at the Market progressive dinner; Spring signature fundraising event; and other community events.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure events are aligned with fundraising goals and effectively showcase the organization's mission and impact.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Proficient in fundraising and promotional event practices and techniques with the ability to bring a strategic lens to fundraising efforts.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of fundraising software such as gift tracking software and fundraising management software. Experience and proficiency using Raiser’s Edge or Blackbaud preferred.
  • Experience in major gifts, planned giving, and donor cultivation.
  • Experience working with boards in the area of fund development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Community Centric Fundraising.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial management, and tracking revenue and expenses.
  • Knowledge of NW philanthropic community.
  • Ability to develop positive and effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work resourcefully in an independent working environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate the organization's mission and impact to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent writing skills, with experience in grant writing, donor communications, and marketing materials.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in partnership in a team-oriented workplace.
  • Ability to understand the fund development process and to work with other staff members to further Neighborcare’s goals within the process.
  • Ability to understand and make a commitment to Neighborcare’s mission and values and positively represent Neighborcare’s work and goals to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to meet and comply with HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Passion for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion work and how it relates to events and fundraising practices.
Required qualifications for this position include:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license with proof of automobile insurance
  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in marketing, fundraising and fundraising events
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in the humanities, or a related field
