- Lead a team of Systems Engineers and Operations SMEs through a Mission Engineering (ME) analysis of a c-UAS mission for a Partner Nation (PN).
- Apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices, methods, and tools to address our sponsor and partners' most pressing challenges.
- Apply knowledge and principles of acquisitions, architecture design, system integration, risk assessment/management, and other systems engineering disciplines to support recommendations to address customer challenges.
- Collaborate within MITRE and relevant partners to contribute to greater practice of Digital Engineering (DE) / Mission Engineering (ME) across the enterprise.
- Evaluating and comparing alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques; exploring large trade spaces.
- System Design and development (such as software development), systems modernization, and architecture.
- Articulating major uncertainties associated with systems architectures, defining risks and opportunities associated with the uncertainties.
- Identifying or developing metrics to measure and analyze relevant system properties, such as robustness, resiliency, interoperability, quality, robustness, and maintainability.
- Supporting requirements management, interface management and architecture change management processes
- Translating analysis results into actionable recommendations for the U.S. Government agencies.
- Develop technical papers and presentations that can communicate such activities as architecture designs, Analysis of Alternatives, informational presentations, and technical analysis.
- In coordination with work leader, assist in developing work proposals that align with customers and sponsors needs.
- Work closely with foreign military members.
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to possess and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance
- Ability to leverage systems analysis— technical and functional skillsets, maintain relationships with internal and external government representatives.
- Familiarity with Digital Engineering tools to include Cameo, MATLAB, and AFSIM
- Interest in complex multi-disciplinary problems
- Expertise in systems and enterprise architecture
- Mastery of modern system engineering methods
- Experience rendering objective evaluation of vendor products and approaches
- Ingenuity in applying a set of technical skills across multiple subject matter domains associated with c-UAS
- Extended trips - up to 30% of your time spent on travel
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field and 10+ years applicable experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
- Experience decomposing defense doctrine into Mission Threads
- Experience defining Mission Engineering Threads give a Mission Thread and reference architecture
- Proficiency in a least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java) to prototype capabilities and analyze data
- Ability to maintain a U.S. DoD Top Secret clearance
- Advanced degree in related field of study
- Experience with multi-disciplinary modeling and simulation (physics-level, engineering-level and/or socio-technical-level)
- Knowledge of methods for assessing the impacts of emerging technologies
- Track record of leadership in Systems Engineering (SE) innovation, research, and publishing
- Ability to transform state-of-the art in research for application to complex SE problems
- Demonstrated technical management for SE projects that require cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Experience working with foreign militaries
