Directly manages all site Manufacturing Engineering Leaders in their region. Dotted Line accountability to the Regional Operations Director. Partners with Site Directors to achieve all site performance metrics. Partners with peers in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, NPI Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Test Engineering, and Industrial Engineering to ensure safe, capable, and productive processes are implemented and improved in all regional sites.What Will You Do?In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:Maintains and embodies the absolute commitment to Safety and Quality in all aspects of the regional technical organizationDirect recruitment, development, and management of site Manufacturing Engineering ManagersEnsure the effective development of the regional technical organization to meet current and future business needs and provide robust growth opportunitiesCoaches, mentors, and develops technical resources across the organizationEnsures all technical needs for each site are met working in collaboration with the broader Global Manufacturing Engineering OrganizationEnsures all processes and equipment are appropriately provided, capable and improvedEnsures appropriate new technologies are incubated, standardized, and deployed as appropriateEnsures appropriate skills are developed across the regional Manufacturing Engineering TeamOversees the regional capital investment plan and associated projects are executed to planResponsible for ensuring regional performance improvement targets are met in conjunction with site leadership, quality, safety, etc.Responsible for ensuring processes and equipment are capable of meeting performance requirementsResponsible for overall regional process and equipment capability, efficiency, and capacityEnsures region capacity is understood, properly maintained, and planned forEnsures appropriate standards and documentation in support of manufacturing process are complete and maintained in the region according to global standards and expectationsEnsures new products are successfully integrated into the regionMakes sound financial decisions on the most cost effective process to deliver a particular need and adequately documents and defends proposalsSupports and aligns to Global ME standards and assists in their creationSupports Integration (Make/Buy) and Farm Out Decisions within the region to achieve best total cost and avoid sub-optimizationFully conforms to Toro Business System initiatives and the deployment of associated practices across the regionActively works across the region to reduce risks associated with fixed costs while improving productivityEnsures the optimized and efficient use of resources of space, time, labor, energy and materialEnsures the regional manufacturing engineering team is actively collaborating with global manufacturing engineering peers, other regions’ manufacturing engineers, quality, safety, sourcing, and design engineersJOB DIMENSIONS:Leads a team of up to 10 Site Engineering Managers, each overseeing teams of up to 25 Engineers and TechsWorks with multiple Site Directors, and Global Engineering LeadersOversees capital budget of $5 to $60M annuallyDefines and deploys strategyLeads teams located in multiple remote manufacturing sitesAccountability in complex and difficult cost effective problem solving including negotiating, written, and verbal communication with Division stakeholdersTravel 20-35%What Do You Need?To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:B.S. in Engineering, M.S. PreferredAt least twelve years of experience in engineering including a minimum of four years of engineering managementExperience with appropriate manufacturing processes e.g. weld, paint, assembly, extrusion, injection molding, metal fabFluency in primary language(s) of region’s plantsHigh degree of self-direction and tolerance of ambiguity.Ability to write technicallyAbility to work effectively across levels from shop floor to Director levelAbility to support work at remote sitesWillingness to adjust working hours as necessary to ensure effective support of regionTechnical knowledge of electrical and mechanical manufacturing and assembly systemsStrong preference for experience with Advanced Manufacturing Techniques such as Industry 4.0 and AutomationWhat Can We Give You?At Ditch Witch, we are always working to make sure our employees know just how valued they are.
