Description :General LaborABOUT AMPI:AMPI owns eight Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.JOB SUMMARY:AMPI is immediately hiring for General Labor. The primary role of General Labor is to safely follow all production and quality standards, while assembling 640 cheese blocks. This job will monitor different positions throughout cheese packaging floor, these positions include but not limited to making blocks, filling block, pushing blocks, closing and sealing blocks, and once trained putting blocks away in the cooler.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. * All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
Assemble carts and place cheesecloth and liners into boxes.
Carts and pans need to be thoroughly rinsed in order to remove any soil/debris prior being placed in the bottom washer.
Clean and sanitize and all carts and pans. Inspect and re-clean and sanitize if any soil or debris is located.
Load and unload carts into a vacuum chamber and monitor the chamber to ensure proper vacuum pressure and time is met according to the specification.
Seal the blocks.
Inspect, weigh, and tag carts.
Maintain good housekeeping and cleanup of equipment, keeping work areas organized.
Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping
Adhere to all aspects of company and customer safety, sanitation and site policies.
Once experience is gain, assists with training new employees.
Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
Other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
Food manufacturing, material handling and forklift operation experience preferred.
Must be able to maintain a valid forklift operator license.
Prior experience in the dairy or cheese industry is preferred.
Prior experience in manufacturing is a plus.
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.
