Position SummaryThe CSU-Pueblo Chemistry Department offers a degree certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and stresses excellence in teaching. The Chemistry Department is a Colorado Commission of Higher Education designated Program of Excellence with a substantial array of instrumentation including FT NMR (2), GCMS (3), GC-FID (3), AFM, LCMS, LCMSMS, ICP-MS, UV-Vis, HPLC, SEM and FTIR (2). Faculty and students are active in both undergraduate and master's level research.Responsibilities of this non-tenure track, nine month (with summer teaching possibly available) position include teaching 12 credit hours per semester in chemistry courses; holding regular office hours for students; fulfilling basic service duties to program, college, university and/or profession.It is anticipated that the successful candidate will teach general and introductory chemistry courses and labs and likely have the opportunity to teach upper division courses in their area of specialty.Position Duties and Responsibilities**All responsibilities of faculty members at CSU-Pueblo are in accordance with the Faculty Handbook. The Faculty Handbook is the authoritative guide on specific requirements with regard to teaching assignments, scholarly activity, research, and service.**Primary Duties
  • Teaching 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in accordance with program needs
  • Engaging in scholarly activity which enhances curricular offerings current levels of basic or applied research, external levels of funding, opportunities for student research or internship, and/or standing of faculty and programs amongst peers in their discipline. Activities recognized as scholarship should involve peer evaluation and/or dissemination.
  • Participating in the self-governance of department/college/University, contributing to the professional service responsibility of the University with the local community and/or the service needs of professional organizations within the discipline, and academic advising.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctoral degree in chemistry or related field
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in university level chemistry
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching lower and upper division chemistry courses
  • Experience providing instruction using multiple pedagogical approaches
  • Previous experience assessing student learning
  • Previous experience teaching in a regional comprehensive university
