Mō te tūnga | About the roleManawa simulation centre is a collaborative Centre with Ara institute. The Simulation Technician will work under the guidance of the Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Simulation Lead to provide support and assistance with the delivery and development of all new and existing clinical skills and simulation-based learning programmes in the Centre and within the Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury simulation programme.The simulation team is a vital part of education for staff and students. The team has a vacancy for Simulation Technician who is able to support healthcare education in a variety of formats. The team is based at and coordinates the Manawa Simulation Centre.The team works across a variety of different training groups and the skills of good communication, negotiation and professionalism are paramount. You need to be able to think quickly and problem solve issues whilst dealing with complex and expensive training equipment.In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Knowledge and ability to use audio visual capture equipment
  • Maintain a database of equipment, maintenance, configuration, testing, calibration, repair and cleaning.
  • Collaboration with different educational users to support their training.
  • Maintaining a collaborative day to day working relationship with Ara staff.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experienceEssential:
  • A tertiary qualification in health and information technology or a related area
  • An interest in simulation and knowledge of the health sector
  • 1-2 years working in a health care or related sector
  • A current driver's licence
  • Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under stress and solve problems quickly
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent IT skills, quick to learn and can independently review and master new programmes and applications
  • Flexible and adaptable to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a need's basis
Desirable:
  • Knowledge and experience with audio/visual equipment
  • Experience in design and provision of simulation training
