The Payroll Analyst will play a crucial role in the administration of salaries, wages, benefits, and other financial aspects pertaining to employees. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in payroll procedures, and effective communication skills.Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and validate calculations for employee wages, benefits, taxes, and other withholdings in the Oracle system.
- Verify the accuracy of employee time and attendance entries approved by supervisors for processing.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date employee payroll records, including elections, changes, and other pertinent information.
- Complete all necessary Federal and State forms and filing procedures for new hires, changes, and terminated employees.
- Administer involuntary garnishments and taxes in compliance with orders issued by local, state, and federal authorities.
- Assist in managing incentive compensation structures for Owner/Operator payroll when required.
- Support quarterly and year-end payroll processing and reporting, including Forms 940-941 and W-2s.
- Assist in compiling data and fulfilling special requests during audits, systems testing, and other internal/external initiatives.
- Demonstrate effective customer service skills, handle disputes tactfully, and cultivate positive working relationships with employees, customers, and colleagues.
- High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or Communications is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience is required.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality of employee personal information and documents.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, solve problems, and fulfill commitments.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for effective interaction with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or American Payroll Association certifications such as CPP or FPC are advantageous.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including familiarity with respective websites, forms, and procedures, is beneficial.
- Experience with Oracle Payroll system implementation, testing, or usage is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic functions and pivot tables for data summarization, evaluation, reconciliation, and reporting, is a plus.
