JOB SUMMARYMonday-Friday 8am-5pmThe Technical Writer plays a pivotal role in creating, standardizing, and maintaining operating instructions, how-to manuals, assembly instructions, and “frequently asked questions” pages to help technical support staff and other users within a company. This role requires close collaboration with engineering and technical support teams to document all in-house developed processes and procedures for production staff accurately. The Specialist role also updates and improves existing documentation for better clarity, accessibility, and standardization across all company assets. A key aspect of this role involves occasional travel to external branches to assess, document, and standardize processes across the company's wider operations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Documentation Creation and Maintenance: Develops and maintains SOPs, ensuring they are current, accurate, and reflective of best practices.
  • Process Standardization: Standardizes all procedural documentation for consistency and ease of use across the organization.
  • Collaboration with Technical Teams: Collaborates with engineering and technical teams to gather necessary information for documentation creation and updates.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seeks opportunities to improve existing documents to make them more user-friendly and accessible.
  • Document Management: Manages the organization and upkeep of all technical documents, ensuring easy access and maintenance.
  • Training Material Development: Helps develop training materials based on SOPs to support effective training programs for staff.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensures documentation meets high-quality standards and complies with industry regulations.
  • Travel for SOP Creation: Travels to external branches as needed to create, assess, and standardize SOPs, ensuring company-wide consistency.
  • SOP Creation Rate: Aim to create 5-8 SOPs per week, balancing quality with productivity to ensure comprehensive and useful documentation.
  • Documentation Accuracy and Usability: Measure success through feedback from users, aiming for a reduction in queries or errors related to process documentation. This will help assess the clarity and effectiveness of the SOPs.
  • Timeliness of Documentation Delivery: Maintain a minimum of 90% of SOPs delivered on time, according to predefined schedules, to ensure timely access to necessary procedural information for production staff.
  • Impact on Process Improvement: Track how the SOPs contribute to operational efficiency and process standardization. This includes monitoring any measurable improvements in workflow, reductions in process variability, and enhanced compliance with industry standards.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Strong technical writing ability, focusing on clear, detailed, and engaging documentation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Understanding of engineering processes and the ability to document complex procedures accurately.
  • Analytical Skills: Analyzes processes for efficiency and identifies documentation improvement areas.
  • Project Management: Manages multiple documentation projects with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in document management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant technologies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
· Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field preferred.· 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing setting.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPrimarily an office-based role with minimal physical demands. Requires occasional travel to external branches for SOP documentation and standardization efforts.WORK SCHEDULE:Generally, the company’s business hours are from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. This is a minimum expectation. Often projects and assignments may extend beyond the normal workday based on department/company needs, deadlines and workload.Time off will be granted with proper formal notice in accordance with company policy.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The environment is a mixed office and production environment. Dress attire is casual but professional. All employees are required to wear Radwell access card and “Radwear” (apparel with company logo) at all times once the initial supply (at company expense) has been received. Closed-toe shoes must be worn.Must abide by all Radwell Safety Policies at all times.
