Manager/Senior Manager, Media Relations[What the role is]In this role, you will develop and execute media relations strategies to support Workforce Singapore’s (WSG) overall objectives, and support WSG in developing and executing public engagement activities such as roadshows and dialogues. You will need to conceptualise, plan, and execute media and engagement activities to drive publicity and awareness of WSG’s programmes.You will lead discussions with media partners and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery of WSG’s key messages across media platforms, and will increase public awareness of WSG and its programmes through sustained positive media coverage. You will additionally need to work with and manage partners and vendors to achieve the successful organisation of public engagement activities.[what you will be working on]
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement WSG’s communications strategy and initiatives:
o Plan, develop and implement strategic media engagement plan
o Engage and manage media for positive media coverage on all announcements
o Work with partners to develop content and messages in alignment with corporate objectives
o Explore new ideas and develop new processes across functional teams for consistent message delivery across all platforms
- Manage media relations across WSG:
o Establish and maintain relationships with media contacts
o Identify and develop media opportunities that highlight WSG assistance, programmes and initiatives
o Ensures consistent messaging in media releases and various media touch-points
o Oversee daily media monitoring for WSG
- Manage public engagement activities for WSG
o Identify and develop public engagement opportunities to enhance WSG’s brands and programmes
o Work with partners and vendors to successfully execute engagement activities
o Engage with members of the public to address queries and share information about WSG programmes[What we are looking for]
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, media or other relevant disciplines
- Candidates without the required qualifications but with relevant experience are welcome to apply
- Candidates without the requisite experience but with relevant qualifications and a strong passion for communications may also be consideredKnowledge
- Strong understanding and familiarity of Singapore’s media landscape
- Good grasp of news angles and what makes news interesting
- Familiarity with the modalities and operations of public engagement activitiesSkills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good project manager to manage and execute projects
- Candidates with a good command of a Mother Tongue language preferredAbilities
- Ability to think out of the box for different ways to engage media and deliver key messages
