This position is RACP accredited for both Advanced and Basic trainees for 6 months of training. We highly encourage applications from our Māori communities.Thames Hospital provides a broad General Medicine service to a population of 60,000 people. This includes acute care of heart attack and stroke patients, and care of patients in our High Acuity Unit. As such the run is accredited as an Acute run for RACP advanced training. In addition we provide rehabilitation care, palliative care and a range of clinical procedures alongside the usual range of in-patient general medicine. Trainees (depending on level and requirements) will have outpatient and exercise treadmill test sessions, and project time. We run an in house teaching program and encourage our registrars to be proactive in coordinating this program. We strive for a relaxed professionalism and strong interdisciplinary working. In-patient numbers are generally 30 - 40 between 3 SMOs and 3 - 4 RMOs.Accommodation is provided free of charge for all Resident Medical Officers at Thames Hospital.Thames is a coastal town known as the gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula. There is easy access to native bush with world class walks, tramps and surf beaches in this popular recreational area.Please provide three current references.
