As the Lead Business Improvement Specialist you will develop and deliver a continual programme of prioritised business improvement activities in order to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and uplift capability across corporate business functions. The Lead Specialist directs the business improvement programme, supports Business Improvement Specialists and provides them with coaching and development support.To view the position description, click .Ko koe tēnei | About youIn addition to your leadership attributes and to be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully coaching and mentoring others
  • 5+ years’ experience in leading and delivering business improvement activity, preferably in a large complex organisation
  • Experience in planning and delivering on a programme of business improvement activities
  • Experience in the application and coaching of process improvement methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TQM.
  • Experience in building credibility and influencing relationships across a range of stakeholders to drive behaviour change
  • Skilled and confident communicator and facilitator, including the ability to lead groups of people online or in person in collaborative exercises
  • Experience in developing and producing presentations and reports for a senior or executive level audiences
  • An understanding of Government sector and corporate business functions relevant to the Portfolio (finance, procurement, risk, human resources, etc)
  • Strong organisational savviness, understanding end-to-end functional impact and consequences, and able to constructively influence senior leaders and navigate across teams and groups
  • Strong problem-solving capability, able to adapt innovative approaches to solve delivery and capability challenges
  • Highly motivated and energised, with a strong focus on results.
Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Qualification or certification in a project management or process improvement discipline is advantageous
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.Ko wai mātou | About us
