We have an exciting permanent opportunity for an experienced Psychologist to join the team at Southern. This role will be a combined position, split between the following services:The Cancer/Psychosocial Service is part of Southern Blood and Cancer Service. Working collaboratively across the Otago and Southland region CPS provides psychosocial support to people with a high suspicion of cancer at the front of the pathway, and those with a cancer diagnosis who are engaged in cancer treatments who have complex psychological and social needs.The Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service provides psychological support services for adults experiencing psychological distress in the context of physical health difficulties. This will see you working closely with the Liaison Psychiatry team and you will have key relationships with specialist medicine services. This includes Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, and Respiratory services.We will also consider working for just one of the services at 0.4FTE - 0.5FTE (16-20hrs per week) for those looking for reduced hour options.Mō te tūranga - About the roleYou will work closely with clients, their family and whanau providing advanced level assessment, intervention and evaluation of their health-related difficulties, both individually and as part of pain education and management groups. As part of the role, you will also work in an interdisciplinary way alongside team members (Specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Health), other health professionals, organisations and stakeholders, including primary care practitioners and non-government organisations who have a supportive care function locally and regionally.Mōu ake - About youIdeallyCandidates should be knowledgeable and experienced in working with complex needs clients and able to demonstrate excellent assessment, formulation, treatment planning and therapy skills. Experience working with clients with physical health problems and using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy would also be desirable. You will be a confident and effective communicator, bring a flexible approach with excellent organisational skills, and be passionate about your work. You will also be a strong supportive team player and be proactive in the multidisciplinary team.QualificationsYou will need to be a registered Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board, as well as hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.Painga - Benefits
