Job Description We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join us as a Shed Manager/2IC on a 500 cow system 2 farm on the beautiful coromandel peninsula. This position is being re-advertised due to previous successful applicant having a last minute change of plans. Start date can be flexible between 1 June and 1 July.The mostly crossbred herd is milked through a 32 bale rotary shed with an in-shed feed system feeding PKE in shoulder periods. The farm has maintained a historically low SCC and has been grade free for multiple seasons. All youngstock are grazed off farm shortly after weaning.Our ideal candidate will be able to take ownership of the cowshed and milking process ensuring hygiene and maintenance standards are met. You will also have responsibility for managing the effluent irrigation system in accordance with best on farm practice. Most importantly you will be a good communicator that works well in a small team and can take charge of the farm in the absence of the contract milker.We have been contract milking for 12 years and pride ourselves on providing a safe and enjoyable work environment for our staff who we consider our biggest asset. The farm owner is also keen to explore OAD options in the coming season to help ensure a great work/life balance in this unique location.
