This is an accredited training position for the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine. We highly encourage applications from our Māori communities.Candidates who have completed two years post graduate hospital and who have an interest in rural medicine will be considered. We provide an excellent generalist training environment with a broad and interesting case mix. Clinical supervision is provided by rural hospital, emergency medicine and internal medicine specialists. There are opportunities for career planning and development.Thames has a 15 bed emergency department with an inpatient unit. As a registrar you will gain experience in a broad range of clinical areas.Thames is a coastal town known as the gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula. There is easy access to native bush with world class walks, tramps and surf beaches in this popular recreational area.This attachment is part of the proposed Te Manawa Taki regional training network, which will include rotations within the Waikato, Lakes and Bay of Plenty districts.Please specify in your covering letter your training requirements and these will be discussed at interview.
