If you have an interest in supporting primarily second chance learners to gain life skills, UCOL has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and passionate lecturer, fixed-term (ends June 2025), full-time position (40 hours per week) to deliver the New Zealand Certificate of Foundation Skills (Applied Sport and Exercise Pathway) Level 2 in partnership with the Lowie Foundation “Kick for the Seagulls” initiative being offered within prisons around New Zealand.The position is based at Rolleston Prison, Christchurch, and is 'behind the wire' therefore can at times be challenging within this secure environment. While you will be given a full induction to the Prison environment you must be able to connect with a wide range of people at all levels including the men in care and prison management.All delivery and assessment resources are provided to you and you will have full support from faculty staff. The programme recognises the importance of applying core capabilities such as confidence, basic knowledge and skills, and literacy and numeracy using an applied exercise and sport context.You will have diverse skills including a relevant tertiary qualification and ideally a sport and exercise background as you will be expected to lead and participate in physical activities. It would be a strong advantage if you also held the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NZCALNE), the NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT) or equivalent and unit 4098 workbased assessor, however these are not a requirement.We want your energy, creativity, passion and intelligence.
