The OpportunityAs a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering scalable and resilient data solutions within our Data & Analytics platform. Your responsibilities involve leveraging your technical expertise to engineer solutions for deployment across numerous clients. Engaging in projects for diverse customers, you will tackle intricate challenges that demand a multifaceted skill set. Operating in the realm of B2B software and services, you will contribute to providing essential services to large-scale clients primarily in NZ and Australia, but also providing global support where required, aligning with our commitment to delivering and supporting cutting-edge technology.In addition to this you will:
  • Support initiatives run by the GSTF and demonstrate our company values by providing a clear commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
  • Contribute through identifying/proposing local sustainable practices and ideas in accordance with our Sustainability Charter.
  • Utilise our sustainability app by taking part in challenges and improving behaviours to be more sustainable.
The Specifics
  • Engineering data pipelines from SQL and serverless data sources to cloud data lake
  • Configure, set up, and administer AWS infrastructure
  • Create integration processes for data ingestion into Snowflake using Snowpipe, AWS SQS/SNS, and Snowflake events.
  • Design, build, and maintain Snowflake architecture, overseeing security, access control mechanisms, and data encryption.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes for data model construction
  • Set up cross cloud network connections for data extraction utilising best in class security, efficiency, maintainability.
  • Deploy and maintain a suite of BI tools
  • Adhere to the Compliance Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure Health & Safety by reporting incidents and hazards promptly.
  • Fulfill any additional duties reasonably requested by your direct line leader.
What we're looking for (you don’t need to be a guru at all, we’re looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you):
  • Solid 5+ years Data Engineering experience, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Data Management or equivalent.
  • AWS infrastructure expertise such as S3 setup, data storage, integration, data transfer, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with CDC and API management tools, such as Qlik Replicate (Preferred), Golden Gate, etc.
  • Experience in cross cloud networking and security
  • Expertise in Snowflake is a prerequisite. While familiarity with other platforms like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Firebolt, Databricks, etc., can be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ELT/ETL tools such as Matillion, Informatica, or Talend.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data warehousing concepts, including data modeling, schema design, data loading, and data querying (nice to have)
