HEALTH NEW ZEALAND - Te Whatu Ora – Waikato DistrictNICU Advanced FellowWaikids Neonatal Child Health ServicesFull-timeFixed-term: 12 months from commencementApplications are invited for the position of Neonatal Fellow within the Waikids Neonatal Child Health department at Waikato Hospital for 2025. This is an opportunity to be part of a progressive team based in a modern tertiary hospital.Neonatal Services at Waikato Hospital is a 41 bed neonatal unit with 17 level 3 beds, including an isolation room, and provides a range of perinatal and neonatal services including a paediatric surgical service and emergency regional retrieval service.This Neonatal Fellow position is suitable for advanced paediatric trainees either specialising in neonatology or general paediatrics with special interest in neonatology. It might also be suitable for a recently qualified paediatrician in their early professional career.You will be involved in clinical care and educational activities. Clinical duties will include after hour’s duties on the Neonatal unit RMO/NP roster, not including nights. The role meets the RACP neonatal advanced training requirements and incorporates a research/quality improvement component. There might be an opportunity for the applicant to undertake specific skill acquisition in a subset of neonatal care, e.g. ultrasound, ventilation, research, or further tertiary study qualifications.Te Whatu Ora – Waikato District serves a population of more than 390,000 (950,000 in the whole Midland region) and covers more than 21,000 square km. It stretches from northern Coromandel to close to Mt Ruapehu in the south and from Raglan on the west coast to Waihi on the east. There are around 7000 births per year.
