As part of the Platform Engineer team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining our platform infrastructure while also ensuring robust storage, backup capabilities, proactive patch management, and efficient virtualization solutions. Your in-depth knowledge of Linux technologies and multifaceted platform management skills will be crucial in ensuring our platform's reliability, scalability, and security. Your responsibilities will be to: Design, implement, and manage the platform's infrastructure, with an emphasis on Linux operating systems, storage technologies, backup strategies, and proactive patch management and virtualization solutions. Configure Linux-based systems and virtualization environment for optimal performance, security, and scalability, ensuring high availability. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust platform solutions. Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to streamline configuration management tasks. Lead the development and automation of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, leveraging scripting languages and automation tools. Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement, implementing solutions to optimize resource utilization. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux operating systems, network connectivity, and application performance. Implement security measures to protect platform integrity, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability assessments. Implement robust storage solutions, including Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Network (SAN), and object storage, to meet performance and scalability needs. Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies and solutions, ensuring data integrity and high availability. Monitor storage, backup, patch management and virtualization solutions performance metrics, analyze trends, and implement optimizations for resource utilization. Manage and execute proactive patch management processes for the platform infrastructure, ensuring security updates and bug fixes are deployed efficiently. Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration of platforms with cloud environments and containerization technologies. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Linux engineering, storage management, data protection, patch management and virtualization. To be eligible for this role, you will require: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Proven track record as a Platform Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role, with a deep specialization in Linux operating systems, storage, backup strategies, patch management and virtualization. Expertise in designing, deploying, and managing Linux-based platforms, including storage solutions, backup processes, patch deployment and virtualization technologies. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby, along with experience in automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Strong understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and best practices for Linux environments. Experience with storage solutions such as NAS, SAN, object storage, and backup technologies. Comprehensive understanding of performance monitoring tools, metrics analysis, and optimization techniques. In-depth knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) principles and practices would be of added advantage. Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), storage-specific certifications, or cloud certifications are advantageous.
