Job Title: L1 Firewall Monitoring Analyst Job Overview As an L1 Firewall Monitoring Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring and managing firewall activities to ensure the security and integrity of the organization's network infrastructure. This entry-level position involves real-time monitoring, analysis, and response to security events, as well as providing initial support for incident resolution. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of network security principles and be capable of working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Real-time Monitoring: Monitor firewall logs and alerts in real-time to identify potential security incidents. Analyze network traffic patterns and anomalies to detect and respond to security threats promptly. Incident Response Provide initial investigation and response to security incidents, escalating as necessary. Document and report incidents, ensuring accurate and thorough information is recorded for further analysis. Policy Enforcement Enforce security policies and procedures related to firewall configurations. Work closely with the security team to ensure compliance with organizational security standards. Collaboration Collaborate with other security team members to share insights, best practices, and knowledge regarding emerging threats. Communicate effectively with other IT teams to coordinate responses to security incidents. Documentation Maintain detailed documentation of firewall configurations, rules, and incidents. Contribute to the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for firewall monitoring and incident response. Tools And Technologies Utilize security information and event management (SIEM) tools for monitoring and analysis. Stay informed about the latest developments in firewall technologies and security trends. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Provides guidance on how his area of capability can resolve an organizational need and actively participates in all phases of the solution life cycle.
