Copy editors are the most important link between the author and the readers giving final touch to the book/journal article in terms of its content by paying attention to language, styling, spelling, grammar, punctuation, headings, styling and formatting of references. Indexing work, if known, is an added advantage. Roles and Responsibilities :- Edit documents as per the publisher's language and style requirements.- Check the Manuscript/articles submitted by authors for punctuation, spelling, clarity, consistency, and subject-verb-agreement.- Ensure that the documents are ready and well set for the next stage, which is language editing, and converting them into a marked-up document.- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and its functions like track changes and comments.Desired Candidate Profile :- Requires 2-5 year experience in Copy Editing/Language Editing/Style Editing of journals/books with high emphasis on quality.- Sound knowledge in concepts of copy editing.- Excellent command over English (both written and verbal skills).- Flexible to work in rotational shift.- Mastery of journal styles, usage, etc. (ref:updazz.com)
