Job description Business: Analytics Open positions: 1 Role Title: Senior Assistant Vice President - Information Management GSC's Global Career Band: 6 Location (Country/city)- Kolkata/Bangalore Recruiter Name: Anitha Allimandadi Why join us The purpose of this role is to support the management team of Analytics Business Service in developing a high quality, cost effective analytics capability for HSBCs Global Businesses & Functions through: Strategic planning to develop Global Analytics Centers (GACs) as a shared service and decision sciences hub for the group Driving strategic initiatives and special projects for GACs spanning people, processes and technology infrastructure Tracking of key performance indicators and recommending strategies for enhancing performance Partnering with Global Businesses and Functions to develop and align GAC services with their business objectives Operations control covering demand, supply, capacity, people, processes budgets and operations risk Promoting the HSBC Analytics (GAC) brand internally and externally through effective communication strategy What you'll do: Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas Impact on the Business/Function Responsible for development of the GAC annual plan in consultation with business, GSD and GAC management team. Facilitate the development and implementation of the Analytics Business Services Operating Manual aligned to the Global Business TBM/TOM. Responsible for monitoring & reporting of key performance indicators for the GAC teams Represent the Head of Global Analytics Centers on selected programmes and committees Responsible for all aspects of Project Management, Model process - including the model build, development, validation, documentation and governance including project milestones tracking, communication with stakeholders, conducting PWG, PSC, Technical meetings, etc. Mobilize and direct projects of high complexity and scale from project definition to closure. Responsible for the end to end planning and delivery of one or more projects proactively balancing scope, schedule, budget, risks, team, outcomes and benefits Introduce and embrace industry best practices and tools - Agile, JIRA, MS Project, etc. Project related/technical guidance and consultancy. Typical Targets and Measures Maintain GACs scorecard and key performance indicators Management of the Business Service Operating Model Adherence to financial plan Represent Business Service at relevant forums as requested. Delivery on strategic initiatives Project delivery tracking against schedules including finance, resources,etc. Efficiency enhancement through adoption of industry best practices Customers / Stakeholders Responsible for overall communication strategy of GACs to business partners and employees Responsible for generation of medium term outlook in collaboration with business partners, location strategy of GACs and coordinate the capacity plan with MCM. Escalations & change control management at various levels of stakeholders. Working in partnership with a variety of stakeholders at Global and regional levels including (but not limited to) Global Risk, Finance, RBWM and IT colleagues at Global and Local Levels Typical Targets and Measures Manage medium term outlook and GAC location strategy Adherence to BTF process and ensure compliance. Feedback from Stakeholders and Cross Functional teams Leadership & Teamwork Support the development and implementation of all GAC People programmes/ initiatives including hiring, learning, talent management, career development and performance management Support the strategic initiatives and special projects as per GAC strategy Establish effective partnerships with business management teams across businesses and functions, GSD and GSCs, and GSD enabling functions including Finance, Internal communications, HR, IT, and HR, MCM and Compliance. Lead Project steering committees for status updates including creation of presentation, reporting, etc. for Sr. Stakeholders. Hands on' approach required and willingness to take personal accountability Resource planning in consultation with Functional Heads Typical Targets and Measures Delivery of strategic initiatives Feedback from partners Reporting and tracking against targets Operational Effectiveness & Control Accountable for tracking operational performance of Global Analytics Centersincluding financial plan, sustainable saves, capacity utilization,resourcing, and, performance level agreements Accountable for management of GAC's Risk control Assessment in collaboration with representatives of businesses and functions assist in managing GACs operations risk as first line of defense Support the deployment of global Production Management initiatives in GACs Organize Independent Review, undertake control monitoring activities within agreed timeframes and to plan, including but not limited to managing SLoD and 3LoD Be responsible for project risk identification/mitigations and pro-active resolution of time/resource escalations. Develop recommendations for change in project schedules. Typical Targets and Measures MI to monitor GAC operations Risk control assessment and operations risk control for GAC Adherence of GAC to ISR policy Robust management of Second and Third Line of Defence for review and challenge process. Risk and Issue mitigation and reporting through Clarity platform Management of Risk The jobholder has core accountability for ensuring appropriate risk management in GACs particularly for operational risk and information security. The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology. Design and sustain a robust business recovery model for GAC processes as per GSD guidelines The jobholder leads by example demonstrating the Group's values. Observation of Internal Controls The jobholder shall abide by and demonstrate adherence to internal controls-in terms of all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators. The jobholder will implement Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term 'compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply. This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators Local Job Requirements Job Context GACs support multiple group businesses and functions with analytics services in risk, customer value management, human capital, operations and information management. While functional knowledge of analytics is not essential for the job, understanding of the application of analytics and associated technology is required. Tin addition the jobholder must be familiar with the global financial services environment and HSBC strategy. The role requires close collaboration with the heads of analytics practice in GACs, business management teams of group businesses/functions and multiple GSD teams across multiple locations. Given the global nature of the role, the jobholder is required to adopt a flexible approach in terms of work location and working hours with travel required at times. The jobholder is not subject to close supervision and will be expected to exercise initiative and judgment in proactively overcoming obstacles to success. Job Dimensions GAC operations comprise of c1500 analysts spread over 5 locations and organized in 11 teams supporting 5 group businesses and functions. The annual operating costs of c$40m is managed through multiple operating plans spanning across managed and facilitated services GAC services impact entire customer base of RBWM and CMB businesses and generates c$300m of incremental revenue annually through analytics services. Major Challenges Ensuring a right balance in driving consistency in GAC's operating framework and maintaining alignment to the Global Business and Functions, all without material operational risk. Driving global consistency while creating a culture of innovation and continuous improvement Meeting the hiring demand for knowledge workersin a tight labor market Managingdemand of adhoc engagementswhere the resources are committed or assigned for other projects The role continually requires a pro-active approach to market, technological, regulatory and legal initiatives affecting products, propositions and service delivery outside the jobholder's control.This requires a deep understanding of the business, consumer and financial services arenas outside and within HSBC Setting directional vision in ambiguous scenarios often with insufficient line of sight on required information Requirements What you will need to succeed in the role: A resilient, self-starter capable of driving performance sometimes in ill-defined / new domains often on a virtual / remote basis. Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills. Excellent planning, organizingand commercial skills including strong financial management capability Operations Management or related Business Management experience and a proven track record in delivery.
