- providing economic, technical, behavioural and policy analysis & support to key stakeholders in the Irish energy sector.
- Very well-developed IT skills including fluency in using databases, Excel, PowerPoint, visualisation tools etc.
- Strong evidence of practical experience with a programming language such as Python or similar.
- Strong experience in developing and testing statistical models for accuracy and robustness.
- Some practical experience with data pipelines, especially integrated with cloud storage, and with query languages such as SQL or similar.
- A proactive approach in objective setting, project tracking and driving for timeliness, quality and clarity of results and to operate with little guidance on project deliverables.
- Ability to think strategically, work on own initiative and display sound judgment.
- An ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and to ensure good co-operation with data suppliers.
- Very good understanding of statistical methods and best practice in data gathering, processing, analysis and presentation.
- Ability to identify changes required to improve functionality and increase efficiencies in data management or modelling.
- Excellent technical ability in information management and report writing skills, coupled with an understanding of the need for accuracy and rigour in data collection and management.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly within a small team, responding to needs as they arise.
- Energy sector knowledge and a keen interest in climate action
- A knowledge of novel methods of dissemination of data and analysis would also be an advantage.
- A capacity to foster a positive working relationship with colleagues at all levels; to work in multi-disciplinary teams and to network effectively.
- Excellent organisation skills together with the ability to prioritise work and manage a wide variety of tasks with a proven track record in meeting deadlines .
- A Postgraduate Degree and/or equivalent professional qualification in computer science, information technology, statistics, engineering, economics, or science.
- Minimum four years' experience of working in these areas, or similar.
- Excellent computer skills including a proficient use of Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheet construction and use.
- Demonstrated extensive practical experience using Python, or similar programming language.
- Practical experience in querying data using SQL or similar query language.
- Successful track record of analysing substantial and multi-faceted data and creating clear and concise reports applicable to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of advanced data analysis and modelling.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences. • Passion for climate action and providing evidence base to advance sustainable energy policy.
- Knowledge of the energy sector and experience with energy data.
- Extensive practical experience with Python applied to energy statistics or modelling.
- Extensive experience working with databases and data pipelines, including design, setup, extraction and storage optimization.
- Experience with version control tools, especially Git.
- Experience with cloud services for data processing in Azure or similar.
- Successful track record in building and maintaining good relationships with external clients.
- A strong understanding of public sector and industry environment and context.
- Experience working in the energy sector and awareness of latest research in sustainable energy transition.
