At Lighthouse Studios, our six core values, pride, passion, persistence, playfulness, poise and people-focus, underpin everything we do and provide guidance for us as we grow and learn.We are now on the hunt for an experienced Background Supervisor who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners.The artists will be needed from 29th of July 2024 and the term of this contract will be 13th of December 2024.Rick and Morty is a classified 16+ show and while the subject matter of the show is presented in a fantasy or comic context, the production may contain contextually justified strong language, references to sex, drugs, horror, threat, and/or violence of a non-gratuitous nature, which some applicants may find objectionable. Lighthouse will always seek to reasonably accommodate those applicants with conscientious or other objections, however given the nature of both the role and subject matter, this may not always be possible. Applicant discretion is therefore advised.About the roleAs a background Supervisor you will lead the team of Background artistsWe really value can-do attitudes here at Lighthouse.   • Supervisor in the design, development, and delivery of backgrounds
  • Clearly communicate the Director’s vision to the Background team. This includes communicating the necessary retakes
  • Supervise the team to ensure the project delivers on the creative objective
  • Suggest and implement solutions to the team to assist them with their quota
  • Work closely with the Line Producer, Art Director, and Production Manager to ensure the project is delivered on time
  • Attend departmental kick-off meetings, reviews and director approvals as needed.
  • Supervise background retakes from our partner and if requested, internal retakes from the assistant director.
  • Maintain a close communication with Production, keeping them updated about the status of the retakes.
  • Support and guide background artists about shots and retakes.
The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.What we're looking for
  • 3+ years of industry experience as a Background Supervision
  • Be driven and able to work effectively on an independent basis
  • Ability to communicate well in a fast-paced and creative environment
  • Must possess excellent time management skills with the utmost respect for deadlines
  • Experience with Shotgrid is considered a plus.
  • Experience in replicating Traditional Media digitally is considered a plus.
  • Must be a team player
  • Must know how to lead a team and maintain the team morale
