- Work with the Safety Adviser and other project team members to ensure that all works undertaken during the project are executed in accordance with statutory safety, health and environmental regulations.
- Grouping of work packages, development of technical specifications, tendering and contractor selection for work packages in his/her areas of responsibility
- Support the implementation of Inspection & Test Plans for the Mechanical aspects of the unit, in conjunction with the appropriate Competent Person / Asset Management Specialist
- Management of quality in accordance with responsibilities listed in the Project Quality Plan.
- Day to day supervision and point of contact with contractors and their works
- Work with and support the station Management and Maintenance Teams during the course of the project.
- Undertake regular safety, environment and quality audits during the overhaul.
- Reporting on progress against schedule and attendance at various project meetings as deemed appropriate by the Project Manager
- Work with the Project Manager to control costs for assigned contracts.
- Management of special tooling requirements with the principle Contractor.
- Development of technical specifications for work scopes on Mechanical plant and equipment and involvement in various stages of tendering and procurement process
- Use of plant modification process for all plant modifications. Ensure all procedures and drawings are updated
- Experience of planning major power station overhauls - including logistics, procurement, specifications development and contractor management
- Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility which is important in all aspects of the role
- Strong report writing capability.
- Proficient computer skills
- Experience in the overhaul of CCGT power plant
- Experience of Power plant mechanical plant, including, Turbo Machinery Pumps, Motors and Valves etc
- Well versed with Health, Safety and Environment Standards and procedures
- Minimum experience of 5 years (Post Qualification) in power generation industry
- Engineer level 8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
